Dear Colleagues

Prof. Masao Omata has been bestowed with the Emperor Showa Tennou-Memorial Science Award. (昭和天皇記念学術賞), which is the greatest medical award by Japanese Red Cross Society, in Japan, for his contributions for long time, to research for viral hepatitis and liver diseases, on 16 July 2025.

I attached the photo from Japanese news paper that Princess Kiko Akishino gave the award and talked with Prof. Omata, in Sendai, Japan.

I thank Prof Kanda for providing this information and the photograph.

May Prof. Omata continue to light the path for all of us.
